James Alexander Duffield emigrated with his parents from Ireland to the United States at age 2 and was orphaned at the age of 18.
Joseph Eagan married Mary Ellen Duffield on February 4, 1902. They had six children, moving from Providence, Rhode Island, and settling in Hamilton, Ontario.
